THE RISK OF FALLING

There were many reasons why we fall. The degree of the fall depends on the distance it happened. Even misstep can cause you to fall especially if you are not aware of your awkward movement. You may get bruises, slight injury, broken bones or deadly fall. Falling was common to older people as the can no longer control their every movement due to weakness, lack of better perception and body coordination as well as his declining health.

A child will fall as he was still beginning to learn how to walk his own. He was put in the care of his parents attending him closely to avoid minor accident. Constant practice in walking will slowly give the child the idea to walk unsupported.

If our sense of balance is deteriorating and the reaction to the fall is slow, accident will follow. Awareness of the correct movement will save us to be hospitalized. Sight is also important to see clearly our steps due to sudden changes of the surface or you or we did not notice the hole or depression of the road we are walking. Good eyesight will keep us alert of many obstructions in our path. Presence of mind and good eyesight will prevent us to get injured.

Road accident  were common in our street because of the negligence of the driver by failing to see a pedestrian crossing in the street unaware of the passing vehicle bumped him head on putting his head to fall first on the paved road. Most often this kind of accident caused the victim to have head trauma with seriously broken bones.  He was in the state of coma not remembering what happened to him.

The percentage of death is higher. A careless movement put the family in danger. The extent of the injury is costly and medical care may be exhausted if not enough resources is available in longer period of recuperation and not even sure if he is lucky enough to be alive.

Aside from careless movement and lack of sense of balance, there are other instances that will trigger a man to fall. Taking medications and potent drugs designed for particular illness affects proper posture and distorts better perception.  Taking diuretics, sedatives and anti-hypertensive medicines can affect the psychological condition of the mind.

If you have poor vision, you can’t see clearly ahead. You bad eyesight was the result of the disease called macular degeneration or glaucoma by clouding your sense of sight. If you have stroke, it affects sense of balance and your ability to walk properly. It weakened your feet. You can’t stand erect and lack of muscle conditioning. Even hyperthyroidism can affect it also.

If you have congestive heart disease affecting your blood vessels and heart, you will go into fainting spell increasing you chance to fall down. Because of the degree of the disease, you have inactive lifestyle as you don’t want to give pressure to your heart from physical exertion. Your movement was limited to light kind of activity, stiffness of the tendons and muscles, less flexibility in walking.

Lung disease like emphysema limits your movement because of the deteriorating condition of the illness. Being inactive has less muscle conditioning and imbalance of movement, a possibility of falling while walking. Arthritis and foot problems will affect coordination. There is weakness in the muscles. Nerve damage causes unsteadiness of posture. There is tingling, numbness and pain in hands and feet as the result of developing arthritis.

If you have bladder problem will cause you to urinate frequently especially during period of sleep. As you move quickly and stand up -lightheaded sensation is felt due to sudden drop of blood pressure. Any minor obstacle in your way while walking sleepy during the night without turning the light at home will surely put you the danger of falling.

Alcoholism induced the body to the state of imbalance. If you are drunk, you can’t stand up straight prone to falling down as the alcohol affected correct posturing and positioning. You wanted to lie down immediately to any place you choose because there is nausea, vomiting and painful headache distorting the ability to walk.

There are many what-to-do tips you can use in avoiding accidental fall:

-A regular walking will put strength in your feet. Your tendons and muscles has flexibility and can easily stretch if there is pressure. It helps you to have better coordinated action without losing balance that leads you to fall. It corrects walking mistakes by giving proper posture.

-Make slow movement steady and sure. Carelessness may cause harm.

-If you are ill, don’t stand up abruptly. Rise up slowly, moving your feet in right foothold.
-While descending on stairs look down and stay focus.

-Put rugs in the house in proper place. Stepping to a rug will slide you without recovering from an awkward position and falling backward.

-Don’t let electrical and telephone cords to obstruct the flooring of the house. Tripping to the wires will off-balance your movement. You will stumble without notice.

-Fix your ladder properly while in use. Attach it tightly to something it can hold on.

-While walking in slippery road, walk slowly and seek right footing.

Protect yourself from a fall. Walk slowly but surely. Accident can make drastic changes in your way of life especially if it causes a very serious fall.

THE NUTRIENTS FROM MILK

The moment we saw the first light of day, mother’s love was expressed in the first taste of milk she willingly give. Milk is life, we lived through it not during our growth years but it will continue for the rest of our lives because our body needs supports to be always in good health.

Milk came from 2 sources. It may be from mother’s milk or from the milk of animals especially cattle. There was already fresh milk you can buy coming from goat or carabao. The popularity of cow’s milk was beyond measure. It was always in the heart of everyone. We knew how milk is essential for growth and development of babies and young children. The young and matured adults and even the aged still need milk to meet with the requirement the body demand.

Milk gives the immune system stronger defense against infection. It makes women to have glowing and smoother skin. It is important in maintaining strong bones and teeth. Lack of calcium in the bones causes osteoporosis. Milk has higher level of calcium. Any deficiency can easily be corrected.

It was found that milk helps to reduce the higher cholesterol level. Too much fat in the blood put danger to the heart. The plaque started to build up in the artery wall restricting the normal passage of blood as it becomes narrowed to the point of restricting the blood to pass through.

Milk slowly melts fats that are no longer useful. It can only make a burden to the heart and other important organs of the body. The risk factor is greater than the benefits it gives.
Milk has natural sugar most helpful in the general wellness of the whole body structure. It revitalizes energy lost during heavy physical activity and restore weakness of strength.

To boost the immune system with the aid of milk has greater advantage. It gives enough strength to shield and eliminate the threat. It reduces the chances of getting sick and weak. Its calorie content is enough to meet with the demand. Milk is energy that gives us an active life more fruitful and challenging.

Weakness of body and mind make us dull and unproductive. Our movement is in slow pace. It restored the body from severe anemia that will trigger the development of another disease. It repairs the ailing body and gives opportunity for the healing. It is best for the defense of chronic disease, powerful arthritis and migraine headache. Good for women to minimize the effect of pre-menstrual syndrome. Strokes can be avoided.

Milk has magnesium and potassium content that can reduce blood pressure. With good circulatory system, it increases blood flow to the different vital organs of the body without obstruction. Over-stress can be prevented and minimize.

It keeps the cardio-vascular system in good shape especially the heart and keep it safe from too much stress. The peptides prevent the production of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) responsible for the increase rate of blood pressure. Increase in blood pressure to dangerous level will cause heart attack and stroke.

Bone disorder (fragile and brittle bones) can still be saved by drinking milk because of its calcium content. It enhances and induces re-growth of defective bone structure and makes the necessary repair.

-Good dental health is protected. It prevents acidic substances to damage the enamel surface of the teeth reducing the risks of weak gum and tooth decay.

-Best for the prevention of dehydration to replace what has been lost during the bout of diarrhea and vomiting.

-Many women took good care their skin by taking a bath with milk any day of the week. They found out that the skin glowed, softness, smoothness to touch, dry skin no longer a problem.

-It can restore from its coarseness and rejuvenate the skin to have a new fresh look. Milk helped to remove dead skin cells by the action of lactic acid. With good source of vitamin A, it protects the skin from any damage especially the effect from ultra-violet rays. It has anti-oxidant chemical compound that will give full protection from the danger of free radicals.

-Free radicals is the risk factor that damaged the skin because of its cellular metabolism to cause age spots, wrinkles and above all premature aging of the skin.

-Acidic stomach can be relieved by drinking cold milk. It helps easy absorption of vitamins and minerals. Milk has other vitamins and minerals that gives additional benefits for better health. Phosphorus is best for the release of energy. It has protein needed for body repair and the growth of cells. The magnesium is good for better function of the muscles.

Potassium is important for the proper functioning of the nerves. The carbohydrate is for energy and good vitality of the body.

-Vitamin A & B corrects poor eyesight. It prevents anemia by increasing the blood count of the red cell.

This is how important milk is to us. Without it, child’s development is not complete. The watery liquid participated in boosting child’s fast growth in the early years of his life.

BONES: THE PILLAR OF THE BODY

Our bones is the structure of the body. It is the foundation where our skin, flesh and organs took hold. We cannot live without it. It all depend on it. If some of its part will break or has fracture, we became incapacitated and has less flexibility to move. There were many people without hands and legs because of the accident. Some bones were damaged and removed. This is how important the bones supports our entire human system.

We have to protect them. Give them the necessary nutrients to make it strong and healthy. This is their food, this is their life. They needed calcium to fully function in their respective role to let the organs of the body to cling to them.

Giving this minerals has beneficial effect to all system of the body. There was an interrelationship and cooperation between the body structures to that of all organs handling and absorbing minerals. It builds good bones, perfect teeth. It is useful in blood clotting. The transmission of nerve impulses depend on it. It regulates heart rhythm for a normal pulse beat. It is considered as a living tissue always on the go. It has a build up process by increasing bone production.

During our middle age years, bones started to weaken. It became the disease of the bones called osteoporosis. If it weakens, imbalance occurred affecting body function. It continues to deteriorate as a person aged more. Calcium become the important source of preventing bone loss.

-Exercise is always an important activities to keep the body (bones and other organs) healthy.
-Avoiding too much protein helps calcium to absorb to the bones.
-Along with calcium, vitamin D is his partner to decrease the risk of fracture.
-Life-long dietary intake is the main requisite to help slow bone loss.

Where calcium be found? It is there in all dairy products, in fruits (orange) and vegetables (spinach, green peas), and many others. It gives our body time to continue their build-up process. Calcium is the key to good health. Let's give it to them.
