IODINE BOOSTS LEVEL OF THYROID HORMONES

Unhealthy thyroid gland brings many diseases. It is important to have balance and normal level of iodine. Iodine is chemical element taken from other source because the body can’t make its own. The best source of iodine can be found in seaweeds. Plant and animal-based foods has little to offer when it comes to iodine concentration not enough the body requires. It has important job in the development of central nervous system.

Thyroid gland is responsible for the manufacture of hormones. To be able to make hormones, iodine is the one that carry-out its delicate function. Any iodine deficiency put too much pressure to the thyroid glands. The feedback system in the body pushes the thyroid gland to work harder to be able to restore its normalcy. Swollen neck is the product of iodine deficiency.

Little sources of iodine can be found in banana, green peas, apple juice, lima beans, raisin bran, cheese, prunes, cream-style corn, tuna canned in oil, shrimp, ice cream, macaroni, eggs, fruit cocktail, white bread, milk, iodized salts, yogurt, cod, dairy products and grain products.

Iodine prevents goiter. It has promise in the treatment of fibrocystic breast cancer, diabetes, diseases of the eyes, heart attack and stroke due to hypertension.

Hospital and emergency unit are using iodine to protect the thyroid glands from the effect of radioactive iodides during radiation therapy.

Iodine has potent effect to the skin to kill the germs, reduce the soreness in the moth as side effect of chemotherapy especially cancerous disease.

Iodine is important to purify water to make safe and potable. It is best in the treatment of ulcers arising from diabetes. Iodine has the ability to kill fungus, bacteria and amoeba. Victims of radioactive disaster can be remedied by taking potassium iodide to handle the effect of radioactive materials. It was used as expectorant to prevent cough due to flu.

The side effects of taking iodine overdose are diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, nausea, runny nose, swelling of the lips and face. There is severe bleeding and bruising of the skin. There is severe fever (high body temperature). There is enlargement of lymph nodes.

It causes allergy and other allergic reactions. There is soreness of gum and teeth due to infection. It brings burning sensation in the mouth and throat. It increases the production of saliva. There is inflammation of the throat. Direct application of iodine causes irritation and skin burn. It worsens thyroid disorders like goiter and thyroid tumor. It worsens the condition of skin rashes.

Goiter can be remedied by the use of iodized salt.

Iodine deficiency results to the following:

Low level of thyroid hormones affects the ovulation period of women that later on may cause infertility. It causes immune disease of the thyroid. It gives high chances of thyroid cancer and other terminal cancers (prostate, breast, ovarian and endometrial).

It causes high blood pressure during mother’s pregnancy period. It causes mental retardation of unborn child. It severely affects the physical and mental growth of children in their stunted development.

Iodine is vital to the proper functioning of thyroid glands. Thyroid gland is responsible in the manufacture of thyroid hormones as assurance that the thyroid gland is in normal condition. Any slip, it may be deficient in concentration or over the required numbers may cause adverse reaction that will results to many diseases the body can no longer handle and give enough protection.

Regular intake of iodine can correct the deficiency and restore the level of hormonal imbalance.
