IODINE BOOSTS LEVEL OF THYROID HORMONES

Unhealthy thyroid gland brings many diseases. It is important to have balance and normal level of iodine. Iodine is chemical element taken from other source because the body can’t make its own. The best source of iodine can be found in seaweeds. Plant and animal-based foods has little to offer when it comes to iodine concentration not enough the body requires. It has important job in the development of central nervous system.

Thyroid gland is responsible for the manufacture of hormones. To be able to make hormones, iodine is the one that carry-out its delicate function. Any iodine deficiency put too much pressure to the thyroid glands. The feedback system in the body pushes the thyroid gland to work harder to be able to restore its normalcy. Swollen neck is the product of iodine deficiency.

Little sources of iodine can be found in banana, green peas, apple juice, lima beans, raisin bran, cheese, prunes, cream-style corn, tuna canned in oil, shrimp, ice cream, macaroni, eggs, fruit cocktail, white bread, milk, iodized salts, yogurt, cod, dairy products and grain products.

Iodine prevents goiter. It has promise in the treatment of fibrocystic breast cancer, diabetes, diseases of the eyes, heart attack and stroke due to hypertension.

Hospital and emergency unit are using iodine to protect the thyroid glands from the effect of radioactive iodides during radiation therapy.

Iodine has potent effect to the skin to kill the germs, reduce the soreness in the moth as side effect of chemotherapy especially cancerous disease.

Iodine is important to purify water to make safe and potable. It is best in the treatment of ulcers arising from diabetes. Iodine has the ability to kill fungus, bacteria and amoeba. Victims of radioactive disaster can be remedied by taking potassium iodide to handle the effect of radioactive materials. It was used as expectorant to prevent cough due to flu.

The side effects of taking iodine overdose are diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, nausea, runny nose, swelling of the lips and face. There is severe bleeding and bruising of the skin. There is severe fever (high body temperature). There is enlargement of lymph nodes.

It causes allergy and other allergic reactions. There is soreness of gum and teeth due to infection. It brings burning sensation in the mouth and throat. It increases the production of saliva. There is inflammation of the throat. Direct application of iodine causes irritation and skin burn. It worsens thyroid disorders like goiter and thyroid tumor. It worsens the condition of skin rashes.

Goiter can be remedied by the use of iodized salt.

Iodine deficiency results to the following:

Low level of thyroid hormones affects the ovulation period of women that later on may cause infertility. It causes immune disease of the thyroid. It gives high chances of thyroid cancer and other terminal cancers (prostate, breast, ovarian and endometrial).

It causes high blood pressure during mother’s pregnancy period. It causes mental retardation of unborn child. It severely affects the physical and mental growth of children in their stunted development.

Iodine is vital to the proper functioning of thyroid glands. Thyroid gland is responsible in the manufacture of thyroid hormones as assurance that the thyroid gland is in normal condition. Any slip, it may be deficient in concentration or over the required numbers may cause adverse reaction that will results to many diseases the body can no longer handle and give enough protection.

Regular intake of iodine can correct the deficiency and restore the level of hormonal imbalance.

THE RISK OF FALLING

There were many reasons why we fall. The degree of the fall depends on the distance it happened. Even misstep can cause you to fall especially if you are not aware of your awkward movement. You may get bruises, slight injury, broken bones or deadly fall. Falling was common to older people as the can no longer control their every movement due to weakness, lack of better perception and body coordination as well as his declining health.

A child will fall as he was still beginning to learn how to walk his own. He was put in the care of his parents attending him closely to avoid minor accident. Constant practice in walking will slowly give the child the idea to walk unsupported.

If our sense of balance is deteriorating and the reaction to the fall is slow, accident will follow. Awareness of the correct movement will save us to be hospitalized. Sight is also important to see clearly our steps due to sudden changes of the surface or you or we did not notice the hole or depression of the road we are walking. Good eyesight will keep us alert of many obstructions in our path. Presence of mind and good eyesight will prevent us to get injured.

Road accident  were common in our street because of the negligence of the driver by failing to see a pedestrian crossing in the street unaware of the passing vehicle bumped him head on putting his head to fall first on the paved road. Most often this kind of accident caused the victim to have head trauma with seriously broken bones.  He was in the state of coma not remembering what happened to him.

The percentage of death is higher. A careless movement put the family in danger. The extent of the injury is costly and medical care may be exhausted if not enough resources is available in longer period of recuperation and not even sure if he is lucky enough to be alive.

Aside from careless movement and lack of sense of balance, there are other instances that will trigger a man to fall. Taking medications and potent drugs designed for particular illness affects proper posture and distorts better perception.  Taking diuretics, sedatives and anti-hypertensive medicines can affect the psychological condition of the mind.

If you have poor vision, you can’t see clearly ahead. You bad eyesight was the result of the disease called macular degeneration or glaucoma by clouding your sense of sight. If you have stroke, it affects sense of balance and your ability to walk properly. It weakened your feet. You can’t stand erect and lack of muscle conditioning. Even hyperthyroidism can affect it also.

If you have congestive heart disease affecting your blood vessels and heart, you will go into fainting spell increasing you chance to fall down. Because of the degree of the disease, you have inactive lifestyle as you don’t want to give pressure to your heart from physical exertion. Your movement was limited to light kind of activity, stiffness of the tendons and muscles, less flexibility in walking.

Lung disease like emphysema limits your movement because of the deteriorating condition of the illness. Being inactive has less muscle conditioning and imbalance of movement, a possibility of falling while walking. Arthritis and foot problems will affect coordination. There is weakness in the muscles. Nerve damage causes unsteadiness of posture. There is tingling, numbness and pain in hands and feet as the result of developing arthritis.

If you have bladder problem will cause you to urinate frequently especially during period of sleep. As you move quickly and stand up -lightheaded sensation is felt due to sudden drop of blood pressure. Any minor obstacle in your way while walking sleepy during the night without turning the light at home will surely put you the danger of falling.

Alcoholism induced the body to the state of imbalance. If you are drunk, you can’t stand up straight prone to falling down as the alcohol affected correct posturing and positioning. You wanted to lie down immediately to any place you choose because there is nausea, vomiting and painful headache distorting the ability to walk.

There are many what-to-do tips you can use in avoiding accidental fall:

-A regular walking will put strength in your feet. Your tendons and muscles has flexibility and can easily stretch if there is pressure. It helps you to have better coordinated action without losing balance that leads you to fall. It corrects walking mistakes by giving proper posture.

-Make slow movement steady and sure. Carelessness may cause harm.

-If you are ill, don’t stand up abruptly. Rise up slowly, moving your feet in right foothold.
-While descending on stairs look down and stay focus.

-Put rugs in the house in proper place. Stepping to a rug will slide you without recovering from an awkward position and falling backward.

-Don’t let electrical and telephone cords to obstruct the flooring of the house. Tripping to the wires will off-balance your movement. You will stumble without notice.

-Fix your ladder properly while in use. Attach it tightly to something it can hold on.

-While walking in slippery road, walk slowly and seek right footing.

Protect yourself from a fall. Walk slowly but surely. Accident can make drastic changes in your way of life especially if it causes a very serious fall.

BALANCE DIET, BALANCE LIFE

To be healthy is our obsession. Choosing foods we like is another. Being healthy is sacrifice. Actually, we don't have plans to be healthy. We enjoyed more in eating food that are not beneficial to our health. In our every movement, eating sugary, spicy, salty and fatty foods become our regular meals. Eating junk foods was easy than eating vegetables. That's the difference. The basis of a healthy body will depend on how we manage to eat foods full of vitamins and minerals (from fruits and vegetables). These are the kind of food required by our body to continue their good performance. The system will be able to deliver the expectation of the different organs of the body. All these elements we provided to meet the nutritional requirements by consuming variety of foods.

Balance diet performs the body well. Where can we find them? There, right in the diet with carbohydrates, proteins, fat, vitamins, minerals proportionate to its requirements.

Carbohydrates is an energy-giving source. Without it the body easily get tired and weak. If taken more than it is required causes weight gain. A balance diet by taking different food groups is a necessity. As much as possible take these under controlled condition.

Taking an appropriate amount of elements can support our normal growth and development. It can supply the necessary requirements as maintenance of the body. With moderate exercise, it is effective. It gives a greater result in reinforcing our eating problem.

Any unbalance diet affects the normal functioning of our nervous system as well as the brain. In order to monitor the correct application of proportion per serving, it is wise to have an eating plan as a guide.

Choose only those foods that improves our health. We have to avoid those that causes us illness if taken as regular food. We have to educate ourselves as the way to be healthy. Learn to eat properly according to proportion.

Eating a balance diet is not easy because it only confines our taste to one or 2 group types. Eating vegetables is in one group that are the hardest to maintain because we are not very fond of eating this kind of food.

Attaining a stronger, healthier and longer life is a sacrifice. If we are willing to do all we can to become healthy or unhealthy, it's our choice.
