BACTERIA IN THE DIGESTIVE TRACT

Our body is the storehouse of all kinds of bacteria it may be good or bad, helpful or destructive. Bacteria largely concentrated in the area of digestive system because of the food we eat. Other places where the germs flourish are on the mouth and lungs.

Echerichia coli cause food-borne illness those that has relation to the food we eat.   Many have died due to kidney failure and bloody diarrhea. The intestine is the center of the infection.

This bacteria commonly found in undercooked, contaminated meats we eat. Other sources of the infection are from raw milk (not pasteurized) and drinking contaminated water from sewage facilities or septic tanks as the repository of all kinds of bacteria.

The germs are found in animal meats especially ground beef. It can be transmitted easily especially if the food is not thoroughly cook or raw meat. The germs lived in the intestines of healthy cattle.

The germs were harmful because it manufactured deadly toxins. Bacterial infection will cause other health conditions to appear if not treated immediately. There will be blood pressure, seizures, paralysis and blindness.

There are many points we can prevent the transmission of the germs into our body by doing the following:

-Ground beef should be cook thoroughly.

-Don’t eat slightly cooked raw meat, the favorite menu to some people.

-The meat has bacteria. It should not contaminate the kitchen before the preparation of daily meals.
-Ready-to-eat foods should not be mix with raw meat.

- Hot soapy water may help to kill germs in the counter and kitchen utensils.

-Wash the plate thoroughly before placing cooked menu.

-Before the preparation of a menu, wash the meat properly to reduce bacteria concentration.

-Don’t drink raw milk of any kind. It’s better to drink pasteurized milk and juices.
-To kill the pathogens in the juice concentrate, it is recommended to heat it first before you consume.

-Contaminated fruits and vegetables as possible carrier of bacteria. To remove dirt and other contaminants, wash it in the flowing water before cooking or eating some of raw vegetables as salads, etc.

-In the absence of spring water, drink water disinfected with chlorine, the safest. Mineral water will do and the best.

-Take a bath in clean river. Avoid swimming in dirty pool.

Be healthy conscious. Protect your body with better personal hygiene for germ prevention. Be cautious in eating foods with ground beef especially burgers, E. coli can be prevented. Treatment of E. coli infection with effective antibiotic is the only preventable solution to get rid with the infection but with the supervision of medical professionals.

BRACE YOURSELF FROM THE IMPACT OF COLD AND FLU

Cold was common respiratory illness most people felt every moment of their life especially during winter season or sudden changes of weather. This was the most distressing days that we have to handle with care and with dispatch. Getting cold and flu anytime of the day from sudden changes in temperature due chilly weather can affect the biochemistry of the body.

The susceptibility to cold and flu is greater if the immune system can’t handle with the disruption of the normal condition of the body. Every alteration will mean something is boiling inside the respiratory tract, the starting point of having caught with flu.

Cold was the result of infection cause by virus. Anyone started coughing, sneezing. It can spread quickly by touching other people’s hands or speaking in front of others. The virus were still outside the perimeter of the body continuously enter inside the respiratory tract by just touching the nose, eyes and mouth with contaminated hands.

Cold and flu is fatal to small children and infants if the virus insisted on controlling human mechanism especially if the victim has problem with his lungs. The transmission of the flu virus is easy even kissing the child in the face.

Most common symptoms are stuffy or runny nose, coughing, sneezing, sore throat and fever. It may last a week or more. A cold and flu will inflamed the mucous membrane in the nose, throat and mouth. The more serious symptoms are headache, dry cough, chills and body pains.

Children affected will have vomiting or nausea during the period of distress. What is fatal is when it complicates other health diseases that will lead to life-threatening condition. It causes bronchitis, sinusitis, pneumonia and ear infection, heart disease and episode of asthma.

Coughing disrupted sleep, the fever that come and go, shortness in breathing and the inflame sinus cavity. Common prevention may minimize the impact to health if caught with colds and flu:

-Get flu vaccine during the year to seek immunity from colds and flu.

-Cover your mouth while coughing to prevent the spread of the virus.

-Always wash both hands most often especially if the contamination started to spread in different part of the body especially the respiratory system. Washing it with warm, soapy water for 15 minutes may help get rid the virus.

-Limit your socializing especially if anyone in the group has flu or cold.

-Help he immune system to fight back with the infection by getting enough sleep, physical activity and eating balanced diet.

-Drink many glasses of water or taking juice to loosen the sticky mucus and keep the body hydrated at all times. Virus can’t be killed using antibiotics. To loosen the mucus fully, use anti-phlegm syrup. A stuffy nose can be remedied by nasal decongestant. If cough will not go away, expectorant is the best choice. Sneezing can be stop by anti-histamine drugs.

Pain reliever is useful in body and muscle pains. Fever can be relieves with acetaminophen medicines like aspirin and paracetamol.

If initial treatment failed, seek medical advice from doctor so that appropriate medical attention can be done to stop the infection in shortest possible time.

PROPER USE OF ANTIBIOTICS

Use of antibiotics has its own limitation. Abuse of taking this drug can do more harm to the body. Use of antibiotic should be under the supervision of a doctor in order to monitor its frequency of application, the dosage being used, the interaction of the medicine during the duration of the treatment. This kind of monitoring is an assurance that the drug is dispense in accordance to its instructions.

Antibiotics was the principal drugs we used when it comes to infection. It was used before and after infection. Levels of application depend on the degree of infection. This drugs can save lives.

Antibiotic is not effective when it comes to treatment of viral diseases like cold, flu or sore throat. The effectiveness has limitation when the bacteria become resistant to any treatment.

Ordinary infection can be treated effectively but for those disease that are very complicated to treat, other kinds of antibiotic will be used. There are many kinds of antibiotics depending on drug properties for specific purpose to treat infection that cannot be cured with ordinary antibiotic.

Antibiotics is not the solution of everything. It is most beneficial for the treatment of accidental cases where antibiotic is necessary in order to avoid infection. Its effectiveness depend on doctor's prescription indicating the duration of its usage and the degree of its application. If the doctor has instruction to take the medicine based on schedule then it should be followed. The purpose is to control the germs to re-group and multiply again and becoming resistant to any application, making it hard to eradicate them. Patients should be more serious in the degree of the treatment.

There are some ways we can do to avoid being infected easily in our day to day activities. Observing good hygiene is a must. Wash hands before and after meals. Taking a bath daily if possible. Avoid areas having dirty environment. Disinfect it immediately with any solution to kill the germs.

In doing a dirty job, use gloves. Cleanliness are one of the control measures to avoid infection. We should not be dependent with the use of antibiotics if the degree of infection can be manage by using soap and wash it with warm water. Application of disinfectant will follow.
